One of the nation’s most experienced communication trainers, Melody Kimmel custom-designs and conducts media, presentation and other types of message training programs. These prepare spokespersons to be more effective in media interviews as well as for outreach to customers, regulators, investors, employees and other stakeholders. Melody previously led national training programs at MSL and FleishmanHillard.
Her trainees are C-Suite, other corporate leaders, subject matter experts and other spokespersons. They learn how to prepare for and stay on track in interviews or other persuasive conversations about the organization, brand, product or position. Training occasions include onboarding, product launch, crisis prep, labor relations communications and IPO/other road show practice. She can lead practices in Spanish as well as English.
Earlier in her career, Melody worked nine years as a journalist, around the country and overseas, with assignments ranging from television news anchor and producer to magazine and newspaper reporter. Her articles have been published in Newsday, Daily News, Baltimore Sun, Cosmopolitan and What’s On In London; her six-part series on the medical malpractice liability crisis in West Virginia was awarded Year’s Best Journalism Series by that state’s Trial Lawyers Association. She ghostwrote the book Unseen Elvis: Candids of the King (Little, Brown) for Jim Curtin, a well-known collector of Elvis memorabilia. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Melody double-majored in English and International Relations.
